Michael Jess McLeary, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026, at Stonebridge of Marble Hill, Mo. Born on January 8, 1954, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Michael was the cherished son of John D. McLeary and Norma Lou Wills.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, John McLeary, his sister, Pauline Crays, his stepfather, Horace Vanmatre, and his stepbrother, Eddie VanMatre.
On August 18, 1973, Michael married Kathy Sue James, Michael is survived by his son Malcolm, and daughter-in-law Wendi. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Marty and Holly.
Michael also leaves behind his beloved mother, Norma Lou VanMatre, his brother Johnny and sister-in-law Linda, along with numerous cousins who will cherish his memory.
A man of many talents, Mike loved to paint and work with his hands. He was also a very creative and outgoing man who never met a stranger. He loved the outdoors and his dogs who are too numerous to name.
Michaels family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and loved ones who have offered support during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Graveside service to be held at McGee New Hope Cemetery Sunday October 25th 2026 at 2pm.
