Morgan Funeral Home

Morgan Funeral Home was established in Advance, Missouri in 1929 by Lloyd S. Morgan. Lloyd graduated the same year from the St. Louis College of Mortuary Science. Morgan Funeral Home has been Advance’s first and only funeral home and has only been operated by members of the Morgan family.

Lloyd S. Morgan owned and operated the funeral home located at 317 Gabriel Street in Advance until his death in 1952. Lloyd’s children include: Lloyd S. “Jack”, William and Patricia. His sons; Jack and Bill followed in his footsteps into the funeral business. Upon his death his son, William H. Morgan, Sr. took over the business. His son Jack, opened Big and Friendly Morgan’s Furniture Store on the same block as the funeral home as well as The Flower Box.

William H. Morgan, Sr. or “Big Bill” as he was known, was a graduate of Advance High School and a 1947 graduate of St. Louis College of Mortuary Science. Big Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army and in WWII. He earned several medals and awards including three Bronze Stars during the war. During his time as owner of the funeral home he also ran an ambulance service for the community and surrounding towns. Big Bill was known as a sharp dressed professional and always being involved in the Advance community. He helped form and organize Little League Baseball in Advance as well as many other volunteer projects for the community. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. Big Bill’s children include: Benny, William “Little Bill” Jr., Barry Ford and Tiffany. Big Bill retired from the funeral business in 1979; at that point his son, William H. Morgan, Jr. took over the operation. Big Bill passed away at his home in Advance on October 29, 2014 with his wife Joy by his side.

William H. Morgan, Jr. or “Little Bill” as he is known, is a 1967 graduate of Advance High School. Little Bill attended Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff on a basketball scholarship. After graduating from TRCC he attended and graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in Louisville, KY. He began working at the funeral home full time in 1970. Little Bill served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He has worked on countless volunteer projects for the community of Advance. He is a former President of the Advance JC’s as well as a former President of the Advance School Board of Education. He organized and formed the Advance Girl’s Softball League; coaching the Blue Jays for many years. Little Bill took over ownership of the funeral home in 1979 upon his father’s retirement. Little Bill’s wife, Regena (Duniphan), was a first grade teacher at Advance Elementary School until her death on June 14, 1988. Little Bill’s children include: Nikki and Kaci. He later married Joan Earley. Little Bill retired from the funeral business in April of 2015. Little Bill and Joan now spend most of their time watching their grandchildren’s activities. Little Bill’s daughter, Kaci took over after his retirement.

Kaci Morgan Below is a 1994 graduate of Advance High School and a 1999 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. Kaci began working at the funeral home in June of 1996. Kaci took over ownership from her father in April of 2015. Kaci has been involved in many community volunteer projects such as; City of Advance Park Board President, Advance Athletic Booster President, Commissioner of the Advance Youth League and Commissioner of the Advance Elementary Basketball program. Kaci’s husband, Luke Below started working at the funeral home in October 2014. Kaci’s children include: William “Lane” and Jackson “Jack”.
