Anthony (Tony) Gale Cooper, 62, of Advance, went to be with the Lord on January 7, 2026, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born February 17, 1963, in Advance, the son of Larry (Welma) Cooper and Marilyn Powell Cooper.
Tony was a graduate of Zalma High School and Southeast Missouri State Law Enforcement Academy. He was a man of faith and attended Liberty Hill Baptist Church, where he proudly served as a member of their security team. Tony was a dedicated law enforcement officer for 35 years, serving in the departments of the Bollinger County Sheriffs Office, SEMO DPS, and the Stoddard County Sheriffs Office. He was an avid predator hunter, and hunting coyotes was his favorite past time.
Tony was a devoted husband, father, and most importantly, Papa to his family. He treasured the opportunities he had to spend time with them traveling and at Sunday dinners.
Tony and Teresa VanGennip were united in marriage on June 25, 1983, and she survives of the home.
Survivors include: his wife, Teresa Cooper, his daughter, Kaci Cooper of Advance, his three sons, Cory (Macy) Cooper of Advance and Cord (Shaina) Cooper of Blodgett, and Carson Cooper of Advance, his grandchildren, Ellie and Crue Cooper, and soon to be granddaughter, Charlie Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel with Pastor Preston Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
