Karen Kay Keene, 60, of Whitewater, passed away May 31, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born November 23, 1962, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Teddy Jo and Barbara Jean Simmons Lanpher.
Karen was a dedicated Registered Nurse of 40 years she served as the school nurse for both Leopold and Zalma School Districts. She ended her nursing career with the State of Missouri at the Bureau of Special Health Care Needs, where her dedication and passion for care of our local communities was on full display. Her loves outside of her career included spending time with family, especially her grandbabies, antiquing, trivia nights, girls weekends, camping, and vacation trips with her husband. Her loving, stubborn, selfless, and outspoken nature will forever live on in our memories.
Karen and Kevin Dale Keene were united in marriage on July 19, 2016, and he survives of the home.
Survivors include: her husband, Kevin Keene her mother, Barbara Lanpher three daughters, Jessica (Kevin) Statler, Taylor (Lucas) Wilkinson, and Sheila (Travis) Griffin a son, Stephen (Nicole) Keene a sister, Jennifer Jo (Jack) Huskey a brother, Scott Lanpher 11 grandchildren a great-grandchild and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Teddy Jo Lanpher.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, MO. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the chapel with Steve Simmons officiating.
