Don Cecil, 81, of Advance passed away July 18, 2021 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born October 24, 1939 in Risco, MO, the son of Benny Edward and Ethel Mae Palmer Cecil.
Don worked many years in law enforcement he had been the city of Advance Chief of Police and also a Stoddard County Deputy Sherriff. For the last 13 years he has enjoyed being a park attendant with wife, April at Lake Wappappello. Don had also owned and operated a trucking company. He drove 18 wheelers across America.
Don loved his dog and was an avid Boston Celtics basketball fan. He enjoyed gardening and play guitar at the Log Cabin Church.
Don and April Watson were united in marriage on July 20, 1987 at Las Vegas, NV and she survives.
Survivors include: his wife, April Cecil of the home two sons, Leman Cecil, II of Advance and Steve Cecil a daughter, Marla Delay of Advance nine grandchildren, Leigh-Ann, Stephanie, Emily, Stephen, Amber, Heidi, Trevor, Boston and Ty and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents two sisters and a nephew.
Visitation will be held on Thursday July 22, 2021 from 1:00p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Wayne Page and Rev. Wally Littrell officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
