Jerry Rayburn Adkins, 75, of Advance, passed away January 18, 2026, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born on December 14, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Kenneth Rayburn Adkins and Evelyn (Dwight) Hinkle Barker.
Jerry had worked as a haul truck driver for more than 25 years at Lone Star in Cape Girardeau. He was a graduate of Advance High School and attended the University of Mississippi. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. Jerry was a member of the Advance Eagles and the Chaffee Elks Lodge.
He enjoyed spending time golfing. He was an avid St. Lousi Cardinal fan, Kansas City Chiefs fan. He also enjoyed watching Nascar races and Hockey games. He loved watching episodes of Gun Smoke.
Jerry and Linda Kay Lape were united in marriage on August 21, 1998, at Piggott, AR and she preceded him in death on August 11, 2025.
Survivors include: a son, Kevin (Sarah) Adkins of Dexter, two stepsons, Alan Tad (Denise) Long of Jackson, MO and Randy Brant of Clarksville, TN, a sister, Debbie Barnhouse of Cape Girardeau, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and stepfather.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
