Linda Kay Adkins, 72, of Advance, passed away August 11, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born on November 14, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Hughie Raymond and Delma Lucille Durham Lape.
Linda worked hard her entire life doing extremely hard and challenging, and sometimes fun and dangerous, jobs. From farming as a child to the shoe factory in Advance to construction, then retail store security (yes, she once cleared a shopping cart while chasing a thief), then clerical and factory floor work for Horizon VTG in Advance and Fruitland. However, her most cherished job was taking care of her sons, grandchildren, husband, and family.
Linda and Jerry Adkins were united in marriage on August 21, 1998, at Piggott, AR and he survives of the home.
Survivors include: her husband, Jerry Adkins, two sons, Alan (Denise) Long of Jackson, MO and Randy Brant of Dickson, TN, three step-sons, Scott (Angel) Bant of Bay City, TX, Tim (Michelle) Brant of Erin, TX, and Kevin (Sarah) Adkins of Dexter, grandchildren, Alan (Isabelle) Long and Jessica Long, great-grandchildren, Theodore, Caroline and one on the way, a sister, Brenda (Alan) DeJournett of Advance, a brother, Dwaine (Pam) Lape of Bloomfield, many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins that held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hughie and Delma Lape and several loved aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield. Rev. Kyle Carter will officiate.
