James Wesley Shipley, Sr., 79, of Zalma, departed this life on March 18, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born July 24, 1945, in St. Elmo, IL, the son of Omar and Edith Crum Shipley.
Jim spent many years as a carpenter until he retired. In the 1970s and 1980s he had been a trapper with his dad. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and a cold Budweiser.
Survivors include: a son, James Wesley Shipley, Jr., three daughters, Jean Ann (Bill) Nattier and Edith Marie (Ellis) Slagley, both of Perkins, and Bonnie Jane Woods of Zalma, a brother, Omar Shipley, a sister, Linda Tipton, 9 grandchildren, Justin Reynolds, Sarah Reynolds, Megan Blattel, Alicia Koehn, Wesley Shipley, Sabrina Shipley, Brandi Lazcano, Angel Patrich, and Amber Woods, 20 great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Rachel Lea Shipley, a granddaughter, Trish Lynn Slagley, two brothers, and a sister.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
