Donnie R. Overbey, 52, of Zalma, passed away August 27, 2021 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born July 17, 1969 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the son of the late Rick Overbey, JoAnn Irene Kemp and Kenneth Winslett.
Donnie was a 1988 graduate of Advance High School. At 15 years old Donnie began working at Town and Country (now Food Giant) grocery store in Advance. For 37 years he diligently worked hard becoming the assistant store manager. Donnie was always a kind smiling face for every customer. He would do anything to help anyone and never met a stranger.
He was a member of the Zalma General Baptist Church. Donnie and his wife, Loretta helped run the monthly food pantry at the church. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and Christian.
Donnie enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and riding his dune buggy. He was also a car enthusiast.
Donnie and Loretta Moody were united in marriage on June 6, 1992 at Berrong Church in Gipsy, MO and she survives of the home.
Survivors include: his wife, Loretta Overbey a son, Brent Overbey of Zalma four brothers, Wayne Tripp of Ironton, MO, Kenneth Winslett of Illinois, Brad Winslett of Hillsboro, MO and Brian Overbey of Bloomfield, MO six sisters, Tammy Graham of Knoxville, TN, Jennifer Andrews of Murray, KY, Dawn Smith of Clarksville, TN, Jessica Davis of Gipsy, Cindy Whitter of Florida and Redawn Miam of Sturdivant father and mother-in-law, Jim and Carolyn Moody of Zalma sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Tim Liley of Advance a special uncle, Donald Winslett of Marquand and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents a brother, Ronnie Overbey and a sister, Michelle Launas.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held on Weds., September 1, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel with Rev. Keith Price, Rev. Leeman Shirrell and Rev. Roger Overbey officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
