Sherry Joann Dunivan Morris, 72, of Bloomfield passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday morning, July 14, 2019.
Sherry was born July 21, 1946 in Kinder, MO, the daughter of William Lester Joseph and Elva Arnold Dunivan.
With a survivors spirit, Sherry found the capacity to gladly give to others, even in her own times of need. Her faith in God was paralleled by her faith and trust of her fellow man. Never doubting His grace, in her weakness Christ became strong.
A dedicated member of the Dowagiac General Baptist Church, she served as a deacons wife, youth group leader and passionate church camp cook. She graduated valedictorian of her adult high school class.
Never one to shy away from an invitation to go fishing, she was equally happy sharing her talent for cooking by preparing delicious meals for her family. Using her skills as an expert quilter, she warmed the hearts and bodies of those she loved by bestowing upon them her handmade creations. Her commitment to honesty was reflected in her nature to proclaim what was on her mind with flair of wit and humor.
Sherry is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Randall Ray Morris of the home her daughter, Sharon Annette Gibson Newkirk and spouse, Steven Alan Newkirk of Elkhart, IN her son, Derrick Shane Morris and spouse Bryan Alan Herring of Atlanta, GA four grandchildren, Andrew Newkirk, Terrell Newkirk, Christana Newkirk and Joseph Newkirk three great-grandchildren and two sisters, Rhonda Loughary of Cadet, MO and Kay Oliver of Dowagiac, MI.
She was preceded in death by Terrell Everett Gibson, her parents, two brothers, a sister and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held on Weds. July 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel with Pastor Steve Newkirk officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery near Advance, MO.
